Political Shenanigans

Surely if Tommy Sheridan ends up getting years in jail for commiting perjury then every person who pleads 'not guilty' and is subsequently found 'guilty' is similiarly guilty of perjury? I think they are. It would certainly make people charged with petty crime think twice about pleading 'not guilty' if the sentence was a small fine for being guilty of the petty crime but 3 years in jail for commiting perjury. The fact that they don't do this and the fact that this is the first civil perjury case in Scotland lead me to the conclusion that Tommy Sheridan's perjury trial was politically motivated - most likely from pressure from Rupert Murdoch's News International empire.
Merry Christmas everone!
